Our Mission

In honor of Matthew Barba, who died on December 16, 2016, Matt’s Homestead was created to carry forward his passion for helping others in recovery.

Matthew fought addiction and deeply believed in supporting individuals during the most critical stages of their journey. Today, we honor his life by providing essential resources to those working toward recovery and by raising awareness about addiction as a disease.

We are dedicated to providing meaningful, real-world support that helps individuals in recovery meet their immediate needs, regain stability, and continue moving forward. Through direct assistance, we aim to remove barriers to recovery—offering not just resources, but dignity, encouragement, and the opportunity for a fresh start.

Honor Matthew’s Legacy

Every donation directly supports someone in recovery—providing real, immediate help when it matters most.

How We Help

We provide direct, hands-on support to individuals in recovery—meeting people where they are and helping them access the resources they need to move forward with stability, dignity, and hope.

Through both individual assistance and ongoing community events, we offer real, immediate support that helps remove barriers and keep recovery within reach.

Individuals may apply for assistance with:

  • Transportation (bus passes)

  • Clothing and basic necessities

  • Toiletries and personal care items

  • Support for treatment and living arrangements

Every application is thoughtfully reviewed, and assistance is provided based on individual need.

Partners in Recovery

Recovery is not a journey that happens alone. We are proud to partner with organizations that share our commitment to supporting individuals through every stage of recovery.

These organizations—along with Matt’s Homestead—were founded and are operated by Jennifer Barba, Matthew’s sister, whose lifelong dedication to helping others reflects a deeply personal commitment to this mission.
